I'm sitting here tonight, thinking about how summer is half over. I can say this with confidence because the bug spray is half gone, the sunscreen is half gone, the peppers in the garden are half-grown and the tub of chlorine tablets for the pool is also at the halfway point.

    16 Jul 2014 | 12:44 pm
Today’s blog is for “long-time” business owners. So if you ever get a chance to catch your breath, I would encourage you to “step out” and look around! While you were keeping your business afloat, the business world kept marching on! Things out there look a little different now. Maybe just a bit tweaked from when you first started your business. When struggling to maintain your business, there seems to be no time to stay “sharp” to the new fast paced business practices. Everything is hyper fast! Web sites, bookkeeping, hiring practices, mobile phones.
  • Tail Coats have hidden pockets????

    10 Jul 2014 | 1:24 pm
When playing, sorting, and looking over our Tailcoat selection I noticed something like a pocket in the inside lining of the tail. A pocket in the tails of a Tailcoat??? Really???? So I looked at a few more Tailcoats to see if this was true. On the older styles there is a hidden pocket in the lining on the tail part. Wow!! I had no clue! But you can’t very well put a wallet in there. That would be heavy and bulky. It can’t be a flask either! So, what would you put in there ? A driver’s license, a little money? Something light-weight and fairly flat would be the only thing…
  • Mardi Gras Giant Train Repairs

    2 Jul 2014 | 12:26 pm
We received a very large, but dirty train from Burning Man. Full of Playa dust with pieces of fabric falling off everywhere. But the base was intact, so we decided to wash it! Ahhhh, it was a full washing machine! When trying to get Playa dust off of fabric you need to add vinegar to the wash. Well it came out well except half of the red tear-drops and blue circles fell off. We used Household Goop (all Goop is the same whether auto, marine, etc.) to re-attach them. This took a bit of time. Then some of the full fabric on the back of the train center needed sewn. If you kept looking you found…
  • Missing Rhinestone Button Fix

    19 Jun 2014 | 11:33 am
When we pulled out our Rhinestone Cowgirl shirt it had one missing stone on a button. We were lucky in that the button tab was still there! All we needed to do was find a flat crystal stone that would match the other one. We couldn’t find an exact match of course. Never when you need to! So using Goop we attached the crystal stone to the tab. And let dry. It came out ok, not perfect. Goop is our favorite jewelry glue. But we also use it for anything that needs a little give. Goop for us has replace E6000. Goop is less expensive and is found almost anywhere. All Goop is the same. Auto,…
  • Lace Repair

    9 Jun 2014 | 12:58 pm
Our gorgeous Southern Belle dress was pulled out for a rental. The bottom hem of this hoop skirt has wide white lace. Unfortunately a heel or two had went thru the wide lace trim making holes and rips. To repair the lace we used two techniques. One was a standard repair by putting right sides together and making a small seam. But on the larger rips, that would not work without making puckers. If your sewing machine has a darning foot, then that is perfect! We used the foot but not the piece that you set the fabric into. That piece looks like an embroidery hoop. Make sure you put your feed…
